Clinical Application Of Pacemaker In The Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

Objective To investigate the attack of atrial fibrillation and hemodaynamic changes in patients associated with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation after implantation of VVI or DDD pacemakers. Methods Among thirty-two patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation,eighteen patients were implanted with VVI pacemakers,fourteen patients were implanted with DDD pacemakers The frequence and duration of atrial fibrillation attacking were compared. At the same time ,EF,LA and LV were measured by UCG in order to estimate the changes in cardia function.Results Three patients (16.7%)switch to persistent atrial fibrillation among VVI pacemakers ,three patients (21.4%)were kept in sinus rhythm in patients who received implanted DDD pacemakers without using antiarrhythmic.Atrial fibrillation in frequence and attack duration were shorten more than 60% in others.LAD and LVD showed the tendency of improvemen (41.39±12.7mm vs 41.89±12.54mm and 56.11±5.48mm vs 56.46±5.86mm)in VVI pacemakers,EF was better than before (0.49±0.09 vs 0.52±0.03).LAD and LVD showed the tendency of shortenment (35.35±5.13mm vs 34.71±5.82mm and 52.78±4.35mm vs52.16±4.23mm)in DDD pacemakers,EF was significantly improvement (0.56±0.10 vs 0.65±0.03).Conclusion 1)Application of pacemakers in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and bradyarrthymias facilliates the selection of antiarrhythmic drugs and control the rate of ventricular;2)DDD is better than VVI in prevention atrial fibrillation and improvement cardia function .
