Objective To evaluate the effect of rosuvastatin with metoprolol in reducingparoxysmal atrial fibrillation after dual-chamber-pacemaker implantation in patients who sicksinus syndrome(SSS) and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.Methods Forty-six patients with SSS who was suffering from PAF followingdual-chamber-pacemaker implantation were randomized,randomly divided into two groups,control group and combined medicine group. On the basis treatment of original diseases, thecontrol group were given47.5mg metoprolol every morning, while the other group were served47.5mg metoprolol as the control group in the first six months and then add10mg rosuvastatinevery night next six months. Aspirin was offered to two groups as basis treatment by100mgevery night. After twelve months follow-up and observation, left atrial diameter (LAD), Creactive protein(CRP), AP%, VP%, the PAF times and PAF duration(ARH Es)wereobserved.Results1. Two groups LAD became completely different in which the combined medicine groupsLAD was smaller.2. After12months study we found out that two groups CRP were reduced according todifferent degree.3. Two groups plasma lipoprotein became different and the medicine group moreobviously.4. Then tests showed that there were no significant differences in VP%and AP%between two groups.5. Through the pacemaker SPC data recorder, we study that two groups AHREs arereduced, especially the combined medicine group.Conclusions1. Rosuvastation combined with metoprolol will antagonize myocardial remodeling.2. Rosuvastation will improve the electrical activity of myocardial by reducing theinflammatory response.3. The main mechanism of episodes of atrial fibrillation and maintenance is the electricalremodeling and structural remodeling in myocardial cells4. Rosuvastation combined with metoprolol can effectively inhibit the occurrence ofAHREs after dual-chamber-pacemaker implantation in patients with SSS who were sufferedwith PAF by inhibiting atrial remodeling and Inflammatory reaction....
