Objective: To understand the conditions and correlation between the hepatic injury in hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease itself in order to have a better prevention and treatment. Methods: The hyperthyroid patients of GD were divided into two groups: with hepatic injury and without hepatic injury. A comparison was made between the two of free thyroid hormones, liver function, etc. Results: o correlation was found of gender, degree and incidence of goiter ,exophthalmos, family history and the hepatic injury in Graves' Disease. (2)Thelevel of free thyroxine hormone in hepatic injury group was obviously higher than that without hepatic injury while there was no strong correlation (OR=1. 010)between the free thyrocine hormone and severity of hepatic injury. (3)It was thecommonest abnormality for alanine aminotransferase in the liver function test(>70%) while the elevation in direct bilirubin was the mostsignificant(>10times).(4)The incidence of atrial fibrillation seemed to be much moresignificant in hepatic injury group(p=0.020).Conclusion: Besides the thyroid function in the hyperthyroid patients of Graves'Disease, their liver, heart and kidney etc should also be considered in themanagement of the disease. It's a problem worth discusing whether the hepaticinjury was caused either by the toxic effects of thyroid hormones themselves orautoimmune injury.
