Objective: The research is to study the relative specificity and the clinical effect of Diji point (SP8) to treat primary dysmenorrheal comparing with that of Ciliao (BL32). Methods: 60 cases of patients were randomly divided into two groups according to the demands of multiple center research and the standardization of the research of clinical diagnosis and therapy technique. 30 cases belong to Diji group as treatment group and the other 30 cases belong to Ciliao group as control group. Public experimental method was used and TCM symptoms scale and visual analogue scale were separately performed. The data obtained were analyzed by statistical methods to compare the therapeutic effect of Diji point on primary dysmenorrheal with that of Ciliao point. Results: Diji point resembles therapeutic effects on primary dysmenorrheal with Ciliao point. The two groups have similar therapeutic effect compared by whether TCM symptom scale or visual analogue scale and have no remarkable difference in different treatment phases. Conclusion: The Diji point has similar therapeutic effect on primary dysmenorrheal contrast to Ciliao point, which proved Diji point has no specificity to treat primary dysmenorrhea contrast to Ciliao point. The results could provide scientific experimental basis for standardizing the indications of acupoints and clinically choosing acupoints.
