In recent years, as the extensive and intensified application of the HIS in hospital, a numerous amount of data was accumulated and resulted in the phenomena of "rich in data, while poor in information", which pushes the development of new technologies and data-analyzing methods with the functionality of mining the useful information from the enormous amount of information to support the decision-making, realize the information-exchange and information-sharing among various units so as to realize the function of information as artificial intelligence. Therefore, whether it be the internal management or external competition, there is a need to mine and standardize the current data and integrate them into HIS to reconstruct the data warehouse platform suitable for comprehensive utilization and analysis of information according to various themes.This paper is focused on the problem of comprehensive utilization of the clinical drugs-using data in HIS. The needs and contends of utilization of the clinical drugs are explained. Eventually a multi-dimension data model and a framework of Clinical Drug Information Utilization System in " Army 1 project" Information System are built.The framework and model were applied to analyze empirically the drug utilization in treatment of SARS in Xiaotangsan Hospital. The contents are as follows:A the needs for drug information utilization in Xiaotangsan Hospital were analyzed and the multi-dimension data model was established.B the standard of drug coding was contrasted and transferred, which provided an idea of and attempts to dealing with the standardization of the drug information for the drug management and utilization in trans-hospital and trans-area setting.C the arctecture chart and list of drug utilization data warehouse of the drugs used in the treatment of SAAS in Xiaotangsan Hospital was set up. The Oracle 8i was used as data warehouse server, and the BrioQuery software was used in mining themulti-dimension data from the clinical drugs utilization data warehouse and performing OLAP. SAS also was used in the statistics analysis.D The data source was from the multi-dimension data in SARS drug utilization warehouse. The results show : Drugs used in treatment of SARS in Xiaotangsan Hospital covered a wide range ,and the drugs used were expensive in charge and high in dose generally. The drug charges of 74% patients ranged from 0 to 5000RMB, only 5.6% were higher than 15000; The common charges ranged from2000 to 15000 , which accounted for 86.3%.While the drug charges of the patients with high risk were mainly above 15000, which accounted for 89.5%. The patients with drug charges higher than 30000 were 28.9%. The older the patients were, the higher proportion of the drug consumed was, which may associate with more basic illnesses. 680 SARS patients had a wide range of drug use but showed a trend of concentration. The charges of the first 25 drugs on the drug using list of 320 accounted for 90.2% of the total drug charges. The highest drug charges were bio-drugs for their high unit price. The top 20 drugs ranked both by charges and use wre Methylprednisolone Injection, Levofloxacin Injection, Thymosin Injection, Azitromycin Injection, Azitromycin Tablets, Ribavirin Injection, Compound Glycyrrhize Mixture, SARS traditional Chinese drug., which included the anti virus drugs, hormonic drugs, drugs with function of ceasing cough and relieving fever, drugs with function of immunity enhancing . These drugs represented the basic drugs used in terras of their charges and use. According to the order the DDDs, the first 20 drugs used were mainly the nutrition-support drugs, hormonic drugs and anti-virus drug; but the index of drug use was higher than 1,which indicated that there may exist drug over-use for the reason no certain therapy was found that time. There were 251 adverse drug use, covering 30 drugs, of which the case induced by cortin ranked first with 74. 7%. The rate of adverse drug use of Methylprednisolone Injection was 40.2%.
