Flos lonicerae is a common Chinese traditional medicine, dried bud or flower of Lonicera japonica Thunb Lonicera hypoglauca Miq. Lonicera confusa DC. or Lonicera dasystyla Rehd. Picked in early summer, straight dried in sunlight or after fumed by sulfur. Its main effective components contain organic acid include chlorogenic acid caffeic acid isochlorogenic acid et. and volatile oil include linalool lauric acid myristic acid (z,z) -9, 12-octadecadienoic acid (z,z,z) -9, 12,15-octadecatrienoic acid, methyl ester docosanoic acid, methyl copaene palmitic acid methyl palmitate tetracosanoic acid, methyl ester et.In 2000, State Drug Administration has set a series of technical regulations on the injection of Chinese traditional medicine and claimed that manufactories need to set up fingerprints of raw medicinal material its extract and injection so as to control quality of the injection.Flos lonicerae has the function of antibiosis antivirus and antiinflammation, has been widely used in Chinese traditional patent medicine. Injection of volatile oil of flos lonicerae has been registered as hospital preparation, but its fingerprint has not been studied. We have collected flos lonicerae of different area and differentprocessing. HPLC with UV detector and DAD detector was used to analyze 50% methanol extract of flos lonicerae. We have established HPLC fingerprint spectra of 50% methanol extract. The result showed 4 peaks were common. HPLC-FPS of samples from the same sources and processing are very similar, but different sources and processing have their different feature. It is a reliable and effective method with good reproducibility and has practical value to identify and provides the quality information.Fingerprint spectra studied on volatile oil of flos Lonicerae from various sources and processing by gas chromatography. The GC fingerprints were set up, furthermore, all the parameters of the main 13 co-peaks meet the requirements for State Drug Administration's technical regulations on the injection of Chinese traditional medicine. The studies are useful for the identification of medicinal materials and quality control. From the ionic fragments of GC-MS and the retained time of each peaks in GC-FPS, the main component were assigned. In addition, we have established the stable process to prepare the infusion injection of flos Lonicerae and studied its GC fingerprint spectra. The fingerprint of injection and volatile oil showed an excellent correlation.
