| Objective To investigate the expression of midkine(MK) protein and its relation with angiogenesis, infiltration and metastasis in gallbladder carcinoma (GC) .Methods The expression of MK protein,Ki-67 antigen and microvessel density (MVD) were detected by immunohistochemistry in 51 cases of human gallbladder carcinoma.Result No specific positivity was detected in chronic cholecystitis. Positive expression of MK were detected in 35 cases of gallbladder carcinoma(68.6%)and mean MVD of GC was 48.7±15.2,which was higher than that in chronic cholecystitis. The positive expression of Ki-67 antigen was significantly higher than that in chronic cholecystitis(P<0.01).No correlation was found between the expression of Ki-67 and histological type and pathologic-grades of gallbladder carcinoma ,however ,the Ki-67 expression was positively related to the expression level of MK.Conclusion The expression of MK is closely correlated with tumor angiogenesis, infiltration and metastasis in gallbladder carcinoma in human gallbladder carcinoma. MK expression is the predictor for biological behavior of GC. |
