Objective To have a further realization of changes of imaging of skin, subcutis ,and cutaneous nerve in patient with herpes zoster at different clinical episodes. To study the clinical significance of dynamic scanning the changes of skin and cutaneous nerve in herpes zoster patients by high frequency ultrasonography. Methods Examined 38 lesions of 22 patients at before herpes onseting, acute herpes onseting, and at the time of regression of skin lesion and after 1 months while regression of skin lesion respectively. Compared with contralateral locus in every patient. Investigated the imaging characteristics of each layer, changes of echo, then examined the thickness of skin, subcutis, and diameter of cutaneous nerve in a ling axis view along cutaneous nerve ,finally to stored and printed the imaging. Results Compared with contralateral locus, before herpes onseting 60.53%(22/38) lesions of skin and 84.21%(32/38) lesions of cutaneous nerve's echo had decreased, thickness of skin had increased (P<0.05) and diameter of nerve had increased (P<0.01). At acute herpes onseting, echo of 92.1%(35/38) skin lesions, 73.68%(28/38) subcutis lesions and 94.74% (36/38)cutaneous nerves had obviously decreased. Compared with the locus of contralateral thickness of skin and subcutis had obviously increased (P<0.05), and diameter of nerve had obviously increased (P<0.01). At the time of regression of herpes and after 1 months of regression of herpes, cutaneous nerve diameter had increased ,respectively 71.05%(27/38),44.74%(17/38). Echo of each layer of skin and nerve hadn't changes compared with contralateral. All patients hadn't PHN. Conclusions Dynamic scanning imaging of patients with herpes zoster, before herpes onseting there had the changes of imaging, they had significance to clinical and differential diagnosis at earlier period, and would influence clinician's decision to diagnose and treat, and would decrease misdiagnosis of some patients, and some patients would promptly obtain treatment, and may improve the prognosis, and reduce the cost o f medicine.
