Purpose By analyzing the immunohistochemical staining of MMP-9,FAK,Bcl-2,and Ki-67,to evaluate their relationship and roles in tumor differentiation and invasion of gastric carcinoma. Methods S-p immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the staining of MMP-9,FAK,Bcl-2,and Ki-67 in 42 cases of gastric carcinomas and 30 noncancerous tissues. Results The expressions of MMP-9 in gastric carcinoma was significantly higher than those in normal tissue(Ridit p<0.05).The expression of MMP-9 in gastric carcinoma was significantly increased associated with the poor differentiation and invasion of tumor cells(Spearman p<0. 05).The expression of FAK,Ki-67 showed significant relation to differentiation, invasion and MMP-9 expression of the cancer cells(Spearman p<0. 01 p<0.05),while the expression of Bcl-2 was lost in poor differentiated tumor. The expression of Bcl-2 showed no relation to invasion and MMP-9 expression of the cancer cellsConclusions The high expression of MMP-9 may have an important role in the invasion of gastric cancer, and indicate the poor differentiation of the tumor.FAK,Bcl-2,and Ki-67 are important not only in the development and invasion of gastric carcinoma but also MMP-9 regulation.
