| The ovary tumours happen complexly.Borderline ovarian tumors is one type of ovary tumours between benign and malignant,it is also called the Low Malignant Potential with no tumour cytoplasm infiltr ation. In 1973,the WHO formally adopted the name of ovary borderline tumour.This kind of tumors is epithelium tumour in general. In the second edition of ovary tumour classification in 1999, the pathology diagnosis criterion of borderline ovarian epithelial tumors has been definited by WHO.In this paper, twenty-seven patients with borderline ovarian epithelial tumor admitted to our hospital from 1984 to 2002 were retrospectively studied. The purpos is to investigate the clinical feature and treatment.Mean age was 40.3 years(17-70). 8 of 27 cases were serous borderline ovarian tumor, 17 cases were mucinous borderline ovarian tumor, 2 cases were mixed borderline ovarian tumor. In 27 cases,17 cases were in stageâ… , 7 cases were in stageâ…¡, 3 cases were in Stageâ…¢. Surgery is the main treatment. 5 cases were given unilateral andnextectomy, 2 cases were given bilateral andnextectomy, 4 cases were given total hysterectomy and bilateral adnextectomy, 11 cases were given total hysterectomy and bilateral andnextectomy and omentumectomy and appendectomy. 4 cases were given unilateral adnextectomy and omentumectomy.13 of 27 cases were given adjuvant chemotherapy. Only 13 cases were followed, including 10 cases of stageâ… and 1 cases of stageâ…¡ and 2 cases of Stageâ…¢. 2 of 10 cases of stageâ… followed recurred,1 case had carcinomatous change. 1 case of stageâ…¡ has not recurred.In 2 cases of Stageâ…¢ followed, 1 case survived 2.8 years dead of borderline tumor and another developed Pelvic lump after radical surgery, the pathologic diagnosis was also borderline tumors. After tumors reducing operation she was dead of borderline tumor.The borderline ovarian epithelial tumor is one kind of particular ovary tumour,biology action is between benign and malignant.But borderline ovarian tumor recur later than ovarian cancer.The recurred focus is also borderline tumor.The clinical features of borderline ovarian tumor are similar with other adnexal lump, the most common feature is pelvic lump, then other features such as abdominal pain and abdominal distention and irregular bleeding are sometimely seed. Freezen section pathology is diagnosed as one kind of quick diagnostic means .Clinical doctor can resolve the surgery limit on the basis of freezen section pathology. But the accuracy of freezen section pathology diagnosis in borderline ovary tumor is lower than in ovary cancer. There were 8 cases taking freezen section pathology diagnosis among surgery and the accuracy is 62.5%. Surgery is main treatment for borderline ovarian tumor, including unilateral andnextectomy, bilateral adnextectomy, hysterectomy and bilateral adnextectomy, total hysterectomy and bilateral adnextectomy and omentumectomy and appendectomy. Now cons ervative surgery are adepted. Conservative surgery must reserve the unilateral adnexal and uterus. Adjuvant chemotherapy are being debated now.At present, the same standpoint relatively are: (1)Stage I with no tumor remnant need no chemotherapy, but strict following up is necessary.(2)Only invasive peritoneal implant, chemotherapy is needed.(3)The euploid of DNA come out, chemotherapy is needed.(4) Chemotherapy project should be milder than cancer,PC is ideal project,course should not be intentsive. Prognosis of borderline ovarian tumor is regarded to be related to agents such as(1)Clinical stage,(2)Tumor remnant after first surgery,(3)The euploid of DNA,(4)Pathology category,(5)Category of peritoneal implant. Conclusions:The proportion of mucinous tumor is higher than that of serous tumor in this group; Stage I with no tumor remnant and other stage need no chemotherapy,but strict following up is necessary;As to young cases having bearing demand, Conservative surgery may be opetated; Freezen section pathology diagnosis has lage reference value.
