Objective To investigate the effects of erythropoietin on red cell immunology function of bearing tumor mice.Materials and methods sixty Kun Ming mice were divided into six groups stochastically. The model for transplanted S180 fluid tumor in mice was set up. physiological saline solution was injected subcutaneously in A?D groups. A dosage of 1000 u/Kg rHuEPO was injected subcutaneously, three times/week in B?E groups. A higher dosage of 2000 u/Kg rHuEPO was given to C,F groups. A single dose of carboplatin (50 mg/Kg) injected into the tail vein of the mice in D?E?F groups two weeks after the tumor implantation . The six groups's erythrocyte immune function were assessed by detecting the RBC C3b-RR and RBC-ICR. The mice's liver was taken out . After routine histological processing, transverse sections were cut and sustained with haematoxylin and eosin. The tumor and lym-phocytic cells in the mouse liver were observed. Results (1)A group's RBC C3b-RR is 10. 21 + 1. 23 and RBC-ICR is 6. 92?. 98 . The index of erythrocyte immune function in A?B?C groups were compared . the A group is lower than the other two (P<0. 05) and there is no statistic difference between B group and C group. (2)D group's RBC C3b-RR is 4. 81?. 54 and RBC-ICR is 10. 33 + 2. 42 . The index of erythrocyte immune function in D?E?F groups were also compared . the D group is lower than the other two (P<0. 05) and there is also no statistic difference between group E and F group.(3)Some tumor grew in the liver of A?B?C groups and more lympho-cytic cells were observed in B and C group. Conclusions The erythropoietin can improve the erythrocyte immune function of bearing tumor animal effectively and there is no dose-effect relationship. The erythropoietin can also improve the erythrocyte immune function of bearing tumor animal effectively after the chemotherapy and there is no dose-effect relationship either.
