Objective : To investigate the effect of avirulent Pantoea agglomerans lipopolysaccharide (LPSp) as adjuvants on the production of anti-HBs in mice immunized with recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) or hepatitis B vaccine respectively. Methods : Balb/c mice were randomly divided into five groups. The five groups were injected with HBsAg, HbsAg+LPSp, HBV vaccine, HBV vaccine+LPSp and 0. 9% NaCl respectively. Each Balb/c mice was immunized through back hypodermia injection for two times. The serum anti-HBs titers were detected by ELISA. Comparing the anti-HBs titers in different group and observing the kinetics of anti-HBs Ig G titer in different periodResults : The anti-HBs polyclonal antibody titers from mice immunized with additional LPSp were higher than those of mice withoutLPSp(p<0.05). There had no obvious difference between HBV vaccine+LPSp group and HBV vaccine group, but the anti-HBs IgG titers were higher in HBV vaccine+LPSp group than in HBV vaccine. The antibody persistent time is potentially longer in additional LPSp groups. The anti-HBs titers were not significantly different between HBsAg+LPSp and HBV vaccine group. Conclusion:LPSp has enhanced efficacy for anti-HBs production in immunized mice and it is synergetic effect with alum adjuvant of hepatitis B vaccine.
