Objective: To study the effect and mechanism of Yikunjing Decoction(YKJD) on Premature Ovarian Failure(POF). Methods: Radioimmunoassay was used to analyse blood level of estradiol(E2), progesterone(P) and endorphin(beta-EP) of the female juvenile rats and data of every group. The normal control group, the pathologic control group, the low dosage treatment group, the high dosage treatment group and the diaethylstibestrolum treatment group were compared. Weight andhistomorphological features of ovary and uterus of the rats were also observed. Results: As compared with the normal control group, levels of E2, P and beta-EP in the pathologic control group were significantly lowered(P<0.05). However, as compared with the pathologic control group, levels of E2 and beta-EP in the low dosage treatment group, the high dosage treatment group and the diaethylstibestrolum treatment group were significantly highered(P<0.05). No obvious changes occurred in E2 and 6-EP levels of the high dosage treatment group and the diaethylstibestrolum treatment group(P>0.05). As compared with the pathologic control group, level of P in the low dosage treatment group and the high dosage treatment group were significantly highered(P<0.05). But no obvious changes occurred in P level of the diaethylstibestrolum treatment group and the pathologic control group (P>0.05). YKJD showed markedly improving effect on the ovarian and uterine morphological construction of rats. The animals recovered as a whole. Conclusions: YKJD has the effect on regulatingmenstruation by regulating the function of gonadal axis, regulating and promoting the ovarian function .
