To study the qi - regulating drugs effect on gastrointestinal motili-ty and screen the drugs which can stimulate gastrointestinal movement. To study the effect of nitric oxide (NO) on gastrointestinal mo-tility. To investigate the mechanism of radix aucklandiae(木香) and pericarpium arecae(大腹皮) to promote the gastric dynamics.Methods1. To screen the qi - regulating drugs effect on gastrointestinal motility of normal mice; The normal mice were divided into 12 groups by random. One group were fed by normal water, one group were fed by cisapride and others groups were fed by qi - regulating drugs. The mice were fed by semisolid paste on the eighth day without feeding foods for eighteen hours after putting drugs into the mice's stomachs for one hour. Then, the mice were put to death after 15 minutes. To investigate the qi -regulating drugs'effect on gastrointestinal motility by measuring the rate of the semisolid paste remaining in stomach and the rate of the semisolid pastes propulsion in the small intestine.2. The mice's models of abnormal gastrointestinal motility: The mice was divided into 2 groups. One was controlled group, the other was model group. The model group was injected into abdominal cavitywith L - Arg, the controlled group was injected with saline. On the sixth day ,the mice were put to death without feeding for 18 hours after putting the semisolid paste into the stomachs of mice for 15 minutes. To investigate the L - Arg effect on gastrointestinal motility by measuring the rate of the semisolid paste remaining in stomach and the rate of the semisolid pastes propulsion in the small intestine.3. The influence of the radix aucklandiae( 木香) and pericarpium arecae(大腹皮) on the rat's model of the abnormal gastrointestinal motility: To investigate NO's effect on mice's gastrointestinal motility by injecting L - Arg into abdominal cavity. To result in the abnormality of gastrointestinal motility by injecting L - Arg into rats ' abdominal cavity. Then the radix aucklandiae (木香) and pericarpium arecae ( 大腹皮 ) were put into the stomach of rats and their effect on gastrointestinal hormone and NO was recorded. To investigate gastrointestinal motility by measuring the rate of the semisolid paste remaining in stomach and the rate of the semisolid paste s propulsion in the small intestine.4. Statistical analysis: t test and analysis of varianceResult1 . Pericarpium arecae ( 大腹皮) , radix aucklandiae (木香) , fructus amomum villosum(砂仁) ,cotex magnolia officinal (厚朴) and pericar piumcitri petcultae (陈皮) had effect on gastric emptying of mice. Fructus aurantii immaturus (积实) , pericarpium arecae(大腹皮 ) , pericar piumcitri petcultae (陈皮) , rhizoma cyperi (香附), amomum villosum ( 砂仁) and melia toosenda(苦楝子) had effect on small intestinal propulsion of mice .2. L - Arg made gastric emptying and small intestinal propulsion of mice slowly.3. Pericarpium arecae( 大腹皮) and radix aucklandiae( 木香) inhibited the effects of L - Arg on increasing the serum NO and its effect on decreasing the plasma motilin(MTL) in rats.Conclusion1. many qi - regulating drugs can pomote the gastrointestinal mo-tility. Pericarpium arecae(大腹皮) , radix aucklandiae(木香:) ,fruc-tus amomum villosum (砂仁) , cotex magnolia officinal (厚朴) and pericar piumcitri petcultae (陈皮) are main. The effects of Pericarpium arecae and radix aucklandiae are stronger than others.2. Fructus aurantii immaturus(枳实) ,pericarpium arecae(大腹皮 ) , pericar piumcitri petcultae (陈皮 ) , rhizoma cyperi (香附), amomum villosum (砂仁) and melia toosenda(苦楝子) can promote the small intestines transmission function.3. Pericarpium arecae( 大腹皮) and radix aucklandiae (木香) can improve the abnormal gastric dynamics of rats and its mechanism of action is manifold.4. Pericarpium arecae (大腹皮)and radix aucklandiae (砂仁) can not improve the abnormal small intestine trasmission made by L -Arg .
