Objective: To investigate the effects of revascularization and drugs on neurohormone and heart function in patients after myocardial infarction, especially application of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, aldosterone antagonist, beta-receptor blocking agent and angiotensin receptor blocking agent to prevention from ischemic heart disease to heart failure.Methods: Patients to have been selected after myocardial infarction were randomly divided into four groups: group A, B, C and D. The patients in group A were given aldactone and fosinopril; those in group B were given carvedilol; and those in group C were given carvedilol and irbesartan; then group D was control group. Before and 6 months after treatment the plasma rennin activity (PRA), the plasma concentration of angiotensin II (Ang II), aldosterone (Ald), norepinephrine (NE) and epinephran (E) were measured. Meanwhile left ventricular end diastolic volume (LVEDV), left ventricular end systolic volume (LVESV) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were detected.Results: Full data were obtained from sixty-four patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Subsection statistical analysis proved that the plasma concentrations of neurohormones in patients with PCI or beta-receptor blocking agent were significantly reduced,among those LVESV decreased and LVEF improved in Carvedilol or aldactone and fosinopril takeners.Conclusion: Revascularization and application of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, aldosterone antagonist, beta-receptor blocking agent could inhibit the activation of neurohormones in patients afer AMI, so prevent cardiac remodeling and improve heart function.
