Superficial Thrombophlebitis (ST) is a very common vascular disease in the limbs. For the clinical symptoms of this disease are relative slight, people are likely to ignore it. If it is untimely or wrongly treated, it will result in deep vein thrombosis, even death because of the infarction of the pulmonary artery. Besides, ST of some patients are showings of other diseases during early or active periods. If the primary diseases are untimely diagnosed and effectively treated, they may become worse. By investigating the clinical characters of ST, the article concluded the etiology and pathogenesis of the different kinds of ST, and declared the clinical characters of the different types in TCM. The article also gave some objective proofs in the disease s clinical diagnosis and treatment by analyzing the relationship between the laboratory tests and the syndrome differentiations in TCM.
