Objective: To study clinicopathological characteristic and national distribution of lung cancer in patients younger than 40 years of age. Method: The records of 99 patients younger than 40 years of age with lung cancer who were diagnosed in our hospital between 1989.9 and 2001.7 were reviewed. Analysis as to ages, sex, nationalities, misdiagnosis and pathological types were performed. Results: 1. In 99 cases, the proportion of female is relatively high, male:female is 1.75:1; 2. The proportion of Han is high than other nationalities; 3. The most of these cases had clinical manifestations (97%); 4. In pathological types, adenocarcinoma and small cell lung cancer are predominant, account for about 71% of total; 5. misdiagnostic rate is 62%.
