Objective To explore the immunity status of infants with rotavirus (RV) enteritis and lay the groundwork of new therapy for treating infants with RV enteritis. Methods The stool at acute or convalescence and blood specimens collected from 44 infants with RV enteritis and control were measured for the level of sIgA , cytokines (IL-1β IL-6 TN-α) and immunoglobulin, cytokines(IL-1β IL-6 TNF-α), subclass of T Lymphocyte respectively. Results (1) The sIgA level of the stool specimens collected from infants in convalescence of RV enteritis was more than that of period of acute significantly and reduced more obviously in serious RV enteritis than in that of light or medium (P﹤0.02 or﹤0.002). The IL-1β, IL-6 and especially TNF-αlevel of the stool were increased significantly in RV enteritis group compared with the controls(P﹤0.001). (2) In the blood no difference level of IgG were found between RV enteritis and controls(P﹥0.5). The IgA and IgM level were reduced obviously in RV enteritis group compared with the controls(P﹤0.005and﹤0.05 respectively). There were not difference between light and serious enteritis. (3) CD3+,CD4+ and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ were reduced obviously in RVenteritis compared with the controls(P﹤0.01, ﹤0.02 and﹤0.02 respectively), and no difference level of CD8+ were found between RV enteritis group and controls, CD3+ and CD4+ were reduced obviously between serious and light or medium enteritis(P﹤0.02 and ﹤0.002). CD8+ and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ were no difference in ever state. (4) The IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in the blood were increased significantly in RV enteritis group compared with the controls(P﹤0.005 and﹤0.001 respectively), the TNF-( was very more. Conclusion Our data suggested that cell immunity was suppressed and resulted in maladjusted system and local secretion of cytokines, reducing the proliferation of B lymphocyte and secretion of antibody in infants with RV enteritis. Reasonably applied some medicines that can adjust cell and humoral immunity, reduce correlative secretion of cytokines, relieve the symptom and shorten the period of treatment.
