The difference of thinking way about disease results in the difference in therapeutics between traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and Western medicine(WM).In TCM, the diagnosis and treatment are based on analysis of syndromes, while the latter are based on analysis of diseases. The relation between the syndromes and diseases cannot be evited whether in the modernization of TCM or in the integration of TCM and WM. In the thesis, the prescriptions and herbs in the chosen literature were classified by statistics, while the relations were studied, which include the prescriptions and the syndromes, the prescriptions and the diseases, the diseases and the syndromes. The result shows that: the superposition was accidental in the relation of the diseases and the syndromes, while the separation was usual. As the superposition, the aim of healing the disease was achieved by curing the syndromes. Contrarily, the aim cannot be achieved. If only analysis of syndromes and analysis of diseases were integrated, the treatment is accurate and efficient. When the prescriptions are written, the degree of the superposition between the diseases and the syndromes must be improved.
