Four Properties of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is one of the most essential theory of TCM, and it is the hard and hot point of TCM for longterm. The objectivity and authenticity was inspected by Biophysics,Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, To Provide new ways for the modernization of TCM ,specially for the modernization of the theory of TCM.Microcalorimetry was used to determine the bacterial growth thermogenesis curves in different conditions. The parameters such as multiplication rate constants (k), inhibitory ratio (I), half inhibitoryconcentration (IC50) and heat output (AH) were calculated, from these data, combined with the records of Herbal Literatures, the difference of Four Properties of Chinese Traditional Medicine was synthetically evaluated. Theresult indicated: K and AH were physical parameters to describe the difference of Four Properties of TCM .The methods are quick, sensitive, scientific andfeasible, And it will create practical meaning to the demonstration of Four Properties of TCM.RT-PCR and Dot Blotting were used to examine the mRNA expression in controlling group and treating group. To investigate the AC gene expressionin rats brain and the effect of drugs of warm nature (Radix ginseng Rubra),drugs of neutral nature(Radix ginseng) and drugs of cool nature (Radix quinquefoliae). To declare the difference of AC expression with drugs of different properties on molecular level. The results indicated: the excited and inhibitory course of AC activity causing the change of the content of cAMPwas one of possible mechanism for the manifest of cold, hot nature of TCM.The unity between Microcalorimetry, Molecular Biology and the theoryof Four Properties of TCM is a great pioneering work. It is a beneficial try to expand and search the way of the study of TCM.
