Objective: To observe the pathological morphology of paravertebral muscle Of the scoliosis in pinealectomized Leghorn chickens.Material and Methods: There were 10 chickens in the control group. Pinealectomy was performed on 20 chickens when 3-day-old. X-ray examination was performed on the chicken spine in the control group and pinealectomized group at 3 months. The morphological observation was studied using histology and chemohistology methods in the control group, pinealectomized with nonscoliosis group and pinealectomized with scoliosis group. Results: 1. 9 chickens was found scoliosis in the 20 pinealectomized chickens.2. Morphology changes were found in the paravertebral muscle In the scoliosis chickens.3. The ratio of muscle fiber Type I in control group was 28.75%-59.63%, and 62.39%-91.58% In the scoliosis group. There was more muscle fiber type I in the convex than the concave.4. The terminal innervation ratio(TIR) in the covex side was higher than that of concave side in scoliosis group, and control group.Contusion: 1. 45%chickens pinealectomized could be developed into scoliosis. 2. The muscle Type I and Yype II were unequal in concave and convex side. 3. The gross anatomy of paravertebral muscle was shown changes in scoliosis. 4. The terminal innervation ratio(TIR) in the covex side was higher than that of concave side in scoliosis. 5. The pathological changes of paravertebral muscle in the scoliosis chickens were similar to idiopathic scoliosis patients.
