Objective: to investigate the mechanism of VEGF which resulting in CHD ,and to observe the changes of VEGF levels detecting the level of serum VEGF with ELISA and with changing of coronary artery. Methods: (1) 52 cases CHD patients were divided into two groups according to the results of coronary arteriograph, positive group with 37 cases which coronary arteriograph showed coronary artery exist different narrow; negative group with 15 cases which coronary arteriograph showed coronary artery were normal .The serum VEGF level in above groups were detected by ELISA .There has 20 cases in normal control group.(2) From the 15 cases which coronary arteriograph was negative we found 10 cases whose treadmill exercise test was negative and 5 cases X syndrom which have angina history and whose treadmill exercise test was positive , and have no coronary spasm after hyperventilation test, the serum VEGF level of these cases whose coronary arteriograph was negative were determined with ELISA 3 hours before and after treadmill exercise test. Results: The serum VEGF level in CHD patients is (393.00 256.33)pg/ml, much higher than the normal control groups (133.25 ± 22.02)pg/ml, P<0.01;The serum VEGF level in positive group is higher than negative(483.24±242.03pg/ml vs 151.33±39.75pg/ml, P<0.01) and normal groups(483.24±242.03pg/ml vs 133.25 ±22.02 pg/ml, P<0.01) .No difference was found between the negative group3and normal group (P>0.05) .In X syndrome group ,the VEGF level after the treadmill exercise test was done 3 hour later, was much higher than it before test (215.20 + 29.46 pg/ml vs 154.00+19.81 pg/ml, P<0.05) ,no difference was shown in negative group and control group before and after the treadmill exercise test P>0.05. Conclusion: The changes of VEGF level in CHD patients have relationship to the coronary artery pathological changes , showing the ischemia degree of cardiac muscle ;coronary arteriograph of X syndrome patients is normal ,but evident changes of VEGF level in these cases after exercise test suggest that VEGF may be a factor that resulting in X syndrome.
