Objective To evaluate the efficacy of levodopa for visual acuity,color perception in difficult-to-treat amblyopia and to investigate the mechanism of levodopa's effect. Methods 30 subjects aged from 6 to 18 years administered Siliba (containing 125mg levodopa per tablet). Visual acuity, FM-100 test were performed before administration, the first and the third month after administration, and the following month respectively. Result After ingestion, visual acuity was improved in both eyes of the subjects . The total FM-100 test errors of amblyopia were clearly more than normal contemporary, and were improved significantly after administration, reaching normal level. The axis of errors was lied in yellow-blue area, and the abnormality of color perception was irrelevant with the visual acuity. Conclusion Levodopa was found to be efficacious in improving visual acuity and color perception.
