AbstractAIM:To assess the distribution of antigen-antibody comexes and its clinical significance in the herniated nucleus pulposus. /METHOD:The presence and distribution of antigen-antibody complexes were detected in 31 cases of herniated nucleus pulposus by the method of immunohistochemistry. The results were compared with those of control subjects and analyzed in connection with clinical finding.RESULTS:A brown deposit ,indicating antigen-antibody complexe~ could be observed in the pericellular capsule in herniated disc tissue but not in control discs. There was clear tendency for a more pronounced staining of the pericellular capsule in noncontained herniated tissues than in contained herniated tissues.68.42% are strong positive,3 1.58% positive of noncontained herniated tissues. On the contrast,58.33% contained nucleus are positive ,4 1.67% negative. There is statistical difference among them(P
