Studies Of Wheat Quality Breeding In Luohe City

With enhance of national economy and standard of living, people pay more and more attention to wheat quality. So wheat quality breading is getting more and more important in recent years. This paper, based on system analysis of ecology conditions, current status of wheat quality breading and processing, pointed out countermeasures and targets of quality breading of winter wheat in Luohe city. Main results were as follows:1. Advantages of quality breeding were obvious in Luohe city. First, Luohe located in the middle of Huanghuai wheat production area, with changeable ecology conditions. This provided wheat breeder an ideal research environment. Second, a lot of quality analysis instruments were bought in recent years, which improved the working conditions for wheat quality breeding and research. Third, a professional group of wheat quality breeding had been formed here. They not only got some experience but breeding materials, which was a resource basic for wheat quality breeding. And also several high quality wheat cultivars had been breed and released.2. Release of quality wheat cultivar Luomai 4 showed us a good example for quality breeding, indicated that we have mastered the basic theory and technique for quality wheat breeding. In the breeding process of Luomai 4, not only breeding target was set reasonably, but also some theories, such as grey fuzzy synthetic assessment and cluster analysis, were successfully used in selection for offspring. Some techniques, such as crossing wheat lines with different habits (spring and winter) and shuttle breeding and selecting in different places, were also applied. These experiences would be very helpful to quality wheat breeding in Luohe city.3. Problems existed in quality breeding in Luohe city. First is the scarcity of high quality resource and good gene in wheat breed. Second is unclear objective for quality wheat breed. Third is singleness of breed method, and un-systematic understanding for relative quality traits. Forth is difficulty of reconstruction for some high-quality gene resources. And fifth is the insufficient instrument and imperfect measurement.4. Quality breeding strategies: according above study, some strategies for quality wheat breed were put forward. Firstly, investment for quality wheat breed should be increased to improve research conditions. And also some measures should be established to pretest breeder's legal rights. Secondly, basic and innovation research should be emphasized in quality breed. Thirdly, breed methods and techniques for quality wheat should be improved. That means when traditional hybrid method was emphasized, some new methods such as distant hybridization, gene transfer and gene modification, molecule marker and monoploid culture should also be used with traditional method. Meanwhile, early selection by quality traits, multiplication in glasshouse or in other place would speed up the breeding process. And industrial breed system for new cultivar seed production and sale should also be established and perfected gradually.
