The forest is the main part in the ecological system of the city, which plays an irreplaceable role in improving the quality of the ecological environment of the city, keeping the balance of the ecological system and advancing the sustainable development of the city. It is evident that the forests in the urban area have been planted and affected by human being; they are prone to be suffered from the natural disasters and damages of human activities, which would lead to great loss on the forest resource. It could be found that the forest resources as well as the biological diversity have been decreasing especially in the large and medium-sized cities. Consequently, Eco-environmental problems are getting worse and affect the living environment of inhabitant of the city. Therefore, only do we know the overall situation of the forest resources loss, we could adopt effective measures to reinforce the punishments on the activities of managing the forests and strengthen people's awareness of protecting the forest resources. With minimizing the forest resources loss, we could advance and ensure the sustainable development of forest industry of the city.In this thesis, firstly, based on the total quantity counting model of the amount of forest loss and the division of different types of forests in Hohhot, the author proposes the respective quantity counting index system of different types of forests in Hohhot and the respective quantity counting model of different types of forests in Hohhot. And then, after plenty of the practical researches in Hohhot, the author analyzes and sorts out the investigated data and associates them with the practical application. Then the data are put into the corresponding respective quantity counting model, which forms the formula of the amount of the forest resources loss fit in the situation of Hohhot. The author also simulates several cases of forest resources loss, which explains the major process of the operation, show that the model in practice and the practical application range. This research fills a gap in the study of forest resources loss in Hohhot and applies theoretical basis for both the management and the law enforcement practice of forest industry and operational measurement methods of forest resources loss.
