19 reclamation planning pits were divided into 11 site types using clustering analysis based on investigation of the natural condition and correlation analysis at Huojitu and Bulianta excavated coal pits for improving level of soil and vegetation reclamation in Shengdong diggings. The type of soil was classified mainly by physiognomy, gradient and sand's thickness at the pit. The goal of the vegetation reclamation was established in this research. The soil fertilizer characteristic was evaluated with the experimental results for goal decision of soil cultivation at the site. Goal of soil dosage in study area was determined referring to abundant-scarcity indices of soil which nation to made in 1996. The local, economic and facile fertilizer was selected to calculate the utilized dosage of the vegetation reclamation for the different fertilizer background and vegetation construction goals of pits. The results were shown as follows:The soil in the depth of 0~90cm was with 81.2% gravel and coarse grain, whereas the silt and clay grain with less than 0.05mm diameter in the soil were relatively low. The soil texture was sand and loam with 78.9% and 21.1%, respectively. The mechanical composition of soil was coarse, indicating that the texture of soil was low. The range of pH value was 7.64 to 8.95. The contents of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium belonged to the sixth grade in the grade and abundant-scarcity indices of soil nutrition, showing out quite absence in the soil. The difference of fertilizer level was relatively large in different soil layers of different and same site types. The fertilizer level in the soil was low, and the general question of soil layer in the pit was barren, which was also main reason leading to low productivity of the vegetation, so soil reclamation and vegetation construction must do soil cultivation in excavated pits. Base on assessment results of soil site conditions and background fertilizer, soil reclamation and vegetation construction were put forward and land productivity was improved appropriately in this research according to local conditions and using the chance of company investment. The technical measures that improving soil chemical nutrition balanced, selecting optimal fertilizer and its dosage for the soil cultivation were put forward according to vegetation construction goal and soil background fertilizer character .
