The possible effects of fertilization on morphological and physiological characteristics of Potentilla anserina, and the physio-ecological responses to fertilization were studied in this paper. This research has selected the field experimental simulation method. The experiment was conducted from May to October,2007 in the Jinlin University,China(N 44°16′,E 125°47′).Studied the relationship between the rainfalls and the temperature to the Potentilla anserina, find that there is not remarkable relevance between the rainfalls and the temperature to the Potentilla anserina's growths.Vegetative plant materials of Potentilla anserina were transplanted(3 plants/plot) in each plot (0.75m×0.75m each) on June 25,2008,and were watered daily during the initial 10 days after transplantation. The experiment was composed of 5 treatment:Control(nil fertilizer),N(nitrogen as ammonium sulfate),P(phosphate as calcium superphosphate), K(potassium as potassium sulfate) and NPK(the component of the three element). The measurements commenced on August 27 and continued to October 8,and modules densities and shape character were measured on each weekend. On October 8,all of the plants were removal from the field for subsequent measurements of biomass and caloric value of modules. The main results were summarized as the following:1.There was a significant positive correlation between the leaves density of Potentilla anserina and the growth days(p<0.01).With the increase of growth days, leaves density decreased gradually.Module densities of fertilization treatments were significantly higher than control. The leaves density was NPK>K>N>P>CK,the new leaves density was N>NPK>P=K>CK,the dead leaves density was NPK>N=P>K>CK,and the root density was K>NPK>N>CK>P.Which showed that fertilization treatments were promoting module density of Potentilla anserina. And compared with the single fertilizer, NPK was in favor of promoting module density of compound fertilizer can promote Potentilla anserina improve component density Potentilla anserina.2.Effects of fertilization on leaf area was researched by this experiment. The result showed that NPK>K>N>CK>P.The result indicated that fertilizer supply has certainly increased the growth of the leaf area.3.Effects of fertilization on angle between leaf and the ground was researched by this experiment.Compared with other treatments, the angle between leaf and the ground tended to be highest in N.The result indicated that the most appropriate angle between leaf and the ground of Potentilla anserina is the most between 22.3°to 34.5°.4.There were significant differences among the biomass observed in different treatments. The biomass in K was the highest.Followed by other was NPK>N>CK>P. The result indicated that fertilization treatment is conducive to the growth of Potentilla anserina.5.Effects of fertilization on Calorific value about leaf and root was researched by this experiment. The root of Potentilla anserina is rich in nutrition,so the Calorific value of root is more than the Calorific value of leaf. Our results have significant implications to grassland management and utilization.Better developing status after fertilization is in favor of plant biomass increase, which would be beneficial for sustainable grassland utilization.
