With the aim of providing simple and applied methods for the identification of tree peony's heat and humidity tolerant,and offering scientific basis for the application of peony in high temperature and high humidity area,five cultivars of peony were used as materials under the different temperature(25℃,30℃,35℃,40℃),the different SRWC(40%,60%,80%,100%),the different relative air moisture(80%,90%,95%)in this study,and physiological and biochemical changes under heat and humidity treatment were studied.The main results were shown as follows:1 Physiological and biochemical indexes of soluble proline,protein, chlorophyll,malondialdehyde,conductivity and soluble carbohydrate super oxide dismutase,peroxidase activity was used to evaluate the heat and humidity tolerant characters of peony.P.lanctiflora 'Dafugui'was heat tolerant,P.lanctiflora 'danfeng' was next,P.lanctiflora 'xiyangyingxue' was weakest;P.lanctiflora 'Dafugui'and P.lanctiflora 'danfeng' were humidity tolerant,P.lanctiflora 'zilou' and P.lanctiflora 'zhaoyuanfen' were next,P.lanctiflora 'xiyangyingxue' was weakest.2 Eight physiological indexes were treated by using principal component analysis and subordinative function under the soil SRWC of 100%.The comprehensive value of mum's waterlogging resistance was obtained and evaluated. Among of them,conductivity,malondialdehyde,proline,chlorophyll,SOD activity and POD activity as the first factor effecting peony against humidity;conductivity, soluble protein,soluble carbohydrate and SOD activity as the second factor.3 Eight physiological indexes were treated by using principal component analysis and subordinative function under the temperature of 35℃.The comprehensive value of mum's waterlogging resistance was obtained and evaluated. MDA,chlorophyll,soluble proline,soluble carbohydrate,SOD activity and POD activity as the first factor effecting peony against heat;MDA,proline,conductivity and POD activity as the second factor.4 Results of Duncan and subordinative function analysis showed that: malondialdehyde(MDA) content,proline,soluble protein content,conductivity and soluble carbohydrate and super-oxide dismutase(SOD) activity,peroxidase(POD) activity can be the reference index identifying the peony's heat-resistance and waterlogging-resistance.Four peony were as follow under heat treatment and waterlogging treatment:P.lanctiflora 'Dafugui'> P.lanctiflora 'danfeng'> P.lanctiflora 'zilou'> P.lanctiflora 'zhaoyuanfen'.
