The contents of primary metabolites and secondary metabolites in pollen of Eucommia ulmoides Oliv from Yantuo, Lingbao county, Henan province was determinedt, the results are as follows:1. The nutritional contents in Eucommia pollen are rich and comprehensive:the content of protein was rich, in which the essential amino acids that human body can't synthesize by itself is up to 36%, and essential amino acids were exceed or approach the ratio value which recommended by FAO/WHO. The sugar and fat content in pollen was lower than the average. Furthermore, the pollen is also rich in vitamin, mineral elements, in which the ratio of sodium to potassium is 13:1000, it means that the sodium content is lower and higher potassium content in pollen,it also showed that the Eucommia pollen is one of good way to supply potassium.2. The pollen of Eucommia contains total flavones and chlorogenic acid. The content of chlorogenic acid is less, and the content of total flavones is high which is 1.4 times as much as the average of 29 pollens.3. The temperature drop papidly during florescence didn't have any distinctive effect on the protein, amino acid and total flavones contents, but the content of free amino acid was decreased significantly. Because the free amino acid is one of nutrition that can be absorbed directly by the human body, so some measures must be taken to prevent the frost injury.4. The Vitamins, sugars and chlorogenic acid contents in pollen are decreased constantly after storage for 16 months, but the content of amino acid and total flavones is stable comparatively. The contents of Vc and chlorogenic acid had great different, the contents can't be measured exactly after 16 months.5. The contents of Total amino acid and Essential amino acid were much higher than those in leaves and barks of Eucommia ulmoide Oliv, the content in pollen was about 4.6-5 times of those in bark and 1.38-2.30 times in leaves. The VC and VB contents are also higher than those content in leaves and the bark, the VB content in pollen was 2.8 times of those in bark and 2.5 times in leaves. The Vc content in pollen was so high that it reaches up to 135mg/100g, which is 2.5 times as much as that in infancy leaves. The contents of total flavones in pollen was highest in all organs, which was 8.9 times as much as that in barks, 1.9 times in leaves, 10.7 times in fruits, 1.8 times in staminate flowers.6. The content of total flavones was significantly differentiated in different clones, especially longguai clone, it indicated that longguai is the most worth clone to be explored and utilized.
