Although Photinia plants can resist on certain low temperature stress, the temperature was one of the important factors as the limitation to introduce to some areas of ShanDong. In order to put forward to scientific consulting for forcasting, choosing, cultivating and applying of introducing Photinia plants to the north area, this paper carried on the study of height growth, wintering compatibility and some physiology and biochemical characteristics of Photinia serrulata,Photinia davidsoniae,Photinia×fraseri'Red Robin',Photinia glabra var.Robens and Photinia×fraseri'Jin Hong', which introduced to three experimental fields in ChangQing, YanZhou and LuoZhuang of LinYi. And used subordinate function to appraise the effects of the characteristics and obtained the cold resistance ability of different Photinia plants. The main results were described as follows:1. The difference of height growth on Photinia plants in three experimental fieldsThe result was that the height growth among trees had the differences in different experimental fields.2. Morphological observation of Photinia plants for compatibility of winterWintering compatibility of Photinia plants was observed in three experimental fields and then consulted freezing cold index. The cold resistance ability order was Photinia glabra var.Robens > Photinia×fraseri'Red Robins'> Photinia×fraseri'Jin Hong'>Photinia serrulata>Photinia davidsoniae in ChangQing and YanZhou experimental fields; But it was the order of Photinia×fraseri'Red Robins'>Photinia×fraseri'Jin Hong'>Photinia serrulata > Photinia glabra var.Robens > Photinia davidsoniae in LuoZhuang experimental field.3. Electric conductivity changes of the organization of Photinia plants and semi-lethal temperature (Lt50) under low different temperaturesElectric conductivities of leaves and branches of Photinia plants were combined with Logistic, the result was that the semi-lethal temperature of Photinia plants in the Feb.2007 was lower than that in the Nov.2006. The cold resistance ability order was Photinia glabra var.Robens > Photinia×fraseri'Red Robins'> Photinia×fraseri'Jin Hong'> Photinia serrulata>Photinia davidsoniae in ChangQing and YanZhou experimental fields; But it was the order of Photinia×fraseri'Red Robins'>Photinia glabra var.Robens>Photinia×fraseri'Jin Hong'>Photinia serrulata>Photinia davidsoniae in LuoZhuang experimental field.4. The soluble sugar and proline content changes of Photinia plants leaves (or branches )under different low temperaturesWith the decreasing of the temperature, the soluble sugar and proline content changes of Photinia plants leaves(orbranches)were increased largely. The increment range of soluble sugar content was the same correlated to cold resistance; The proline content changes were unidentical.
