Potato is one of the worldwide economic crop and is the forth important foodstuff following wheat, rice and maize. China is one of the fastest development countries in potato growing in the world. Its growing area is about 500 million hectare. Potato is the crop that has largest growing area in China and covers all parts of the country. Potato harvesting mainly depend on artificial digging and animal power in most region in China. Harvesting in small areas use artificial digging with spade and hoe. In large area employ digging plough of animal power. In recent years, development and exploitation of potato harvester have developed rapidly. But most of them belong to spreading piece. Potato was dig and then gathered artificially. This means has low efficiency and big working intensity. Even whole level of the mechanization is very low, which will restrict the development of the potato industry. Therefore the 4M-2 potato combine harvester was devised. This machine can conduct digging and then transport it to collecting box. It can achieve aim to harvesting and collecting at the same time.This paper is mainly aim to difficult problems existed in potato harvester in China. The seperating and conveying system of the 4M-2 potato combine harvester was researched. The main components of the new model and the new mechanism in conveying system are designed, calculated and academic discussed in this paper. Seperating and conveying system are mainly composed of three subassembly: separating conveyor, transverse conveyor and tilting conveyor.The elevator chain is first subassembly that is used to separating and conveying. Its structure is the cant hook chain elevator that fitted out with passive vibrator that can separate potatoes from soil efficiently. The interrelated parameter are ascertained. Transverse conveyor is designed to belt-pole that can separate potato from soil once again. Driving-belt adopted canvas rubber-belt that connect poles that cover rubber-pipe on it in equidistance. It can reduce scathe while potato tuber is on conveying. Tilting conveyor adopt rubber-belt that connect trapezoidal plates in equidistance. The driving roller is jointing, The whole conveyor fixed lean to the left of the machinery. The main part of the conveyor are designed and calculated, the main parameter are ascertained. The virtual prototype model of the tilting conveyor is established with the help of ANSYS and ADAMS software. Some simulation results show that the proposed model is feasible.
