This dissertation is composed of two parts: the studies on chemical constituents of Dendrobium chrysotoxum Lindl. and Arundina graminifolia (D.Don) Hochr., and bioactivity of some compounds.Caulis dendrobii is used in traditional Chinese medicine as a Yin tonic to benefit the stomach, promote secretion and reduce fever. As one species of resource plant of commodity Caulis dendrobii, D. chrysotoxum has been studied in its chemical constituents and pharmacological actions. This experiment was to get monomeric compound by way of extraction, separation and purification, to identify its structure and to assess its activity, so we can deepen the study of the chemical components and activity of resource plants of commodity Caulis dendrobii.The constituents of D. chrysotoxum were separated with column chromatographic techniques. The structures were elucidated by physico-chemical properties and spectral data. Six compounds were isolated from the plant and were identified as 1,4,7-trihydroxy-5-methoxy-9H-fluoren-9-one (dendroflorin, I), 2,4,7-trihydroxy-5-methoxy-9H-fluoren-9-one (denchrysan A, II), 2,5-dihydroxy-4- methoxy-9H-fluoren-9-one (dengibsin, III), 3,4-dimethoxybenzoic acid (veratric acid, IV), p-hydroxyphenyl propanoic acid (V) andβ-sitosterol (VI). Compound V was obstained from this plant for the first time.The determination about activity of anti-HIV-1 of compound IV in vitro showed slight activity: EC50 126μg/ml;CC50>200μg/ml;TI>1.6μg/ml. A. graminifolia is used to reduce fever and as an antidote to toxins, ease rheumatism by diuresis, dissipate blood stasis and relieve pain. The object and method of this experiment was similar to the above.Eight compounds were isolated from the plant and were identified as 4-(4-hydroxybenzyl)-3,4,5-trimethoxycyclohexa-2,5-dienone (arungramone, I), apigenin 6,8-di-C-β-glucopyranoside (vicenin-2, II), 7-hydroxy-2,4-dimethoxy-9,10- dihydrophenan-threne (orchinol, III), 7-hydroxy-2-methoxyphenanthrene-1,4-dione (densiflorol B, IV), 1-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)propan-1-one (V), tetracosanoic acid glyceride-1 (VI),β-sitosterol (VII), daucosterol (VIII). Compound I was a new compound, compounds II, V and VI were isolated from the plant for the first time.
