With the development of environment science and gardens, lawn has been a main component in garden city virescence. Lawn has functions of rarefied air, reducing water and soil loss, improving soil structure, easing solar radiation, protecting and resuming eyesight etc. The development of our country lawn is in the primary stage for the moment. These reasons of cultivation techniques and management have lead to the lawn retarded growth, a great area death and lawn growth badness.This article uses the method of hierarchy analysis and comprehensive appraisal and has established the value access system of lawn quality, has evaluated the lawn quality of Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University campus. At the same time, we use the experiment ecology method and have analyzed three type of lawn that is growth badness in the campus through the investigation of plant plot.The results show that the lawn quality can be evaluated from the appearance quality, ecological quality and using quality, the weighting is 0.805, 0.120, and 0.075 respectively. The lawn quality can also be evaluated from lawn density, texture, color, lawn height and lawn covering etc, the weighting is 0.235, 0.176, 0.235, 0.059 and 0.118 respectively. The score of lawn of international center of Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University is 83.02, No.1 school building lawn is 80.65, the experiment building is 81.01 and the lawn quality is good.The lawn growth badness is the result of several reasons, and is not aroused by only one reason. The reasons of lawn growth badness have the lawn breed, illumination condition, temperature, soil pegree of compaction and human trample. The different lawn breeds have the different ecological habit, and have different growth effect and have different environment adaptability. The density of Poa pratensis L. is the biggest, Festuca arundinacea Schreb takes second and Agrostis stolonifera L. is the smallest.The lawn has a different growth effect in the different illumination condition. The growth quality of Poa pratensis L. is the best, Festuca arundinacea Schreb takes second and Agrostis stolonifera L. is the worst in the full illumination condition. The growth quality of Agrostis stolonifera L. is the best, Poa pratensis L. takes second and Festuca arundinacea Schreb is the worst in the semi-full illumination condition.The lawn has a different growth effect in the different seasons. The temperature has a obvious influence for the growth of lawn. There are two times peak of growth from January to December. When the temperature reach to the 25℃, the growth of cold-season type lawn becomes slow. With the gradual roll off of temperature, the lawn growing is renewed slowly and reach to the second peak, the Yangling is adapted to the cold-season lawn growth.In addition, the soil density has an obvious influence to the lawn quality. When the bulk density of soil is in the 1.2-1.55, the lawn density is down gradually with the increasing of the bulk density of soil and the relation is negative correlation between the bulk density and density. The human trample has an obvious influence to the lawn growth. The degree of enduring trample is different in the different lawn. Festuca arundinacea Schreb is the best, Poa pratensis L. takes second and Agrostis stolonifera L. is the worst.
