Beijing is a large city scare of water. With its growing emphasis on the ecological environment, the consumption of ecological environment water, especially the greening water has been rose rapidly, which to some extent, put pressures on the water resources in Beijing. After reviewing a series of water researches, methods and results at home and abroad, and on the basis of previous research, this paper discusses the current situation and some problems of water resources in Beijing, and then it predicts the future of domestic water consumption in Beijing based on Partial Least Squares methods by Wold in 1996. It finds out the impact factors that affecting overall water consumption such as greening factor, social economic factor and population factor. Among these factors, greening factor affects the most. It established a two hierarchy top-bottom model and concludes that water consumption will continue to increase. Finally, some suggestions are given accordingly to promote water-saving lawn.Firstly, by collecting the indirect data source, we describe the general situation of lawn in Beijing in details covering scale, type and maintenance etc. The grass is classified into divided into cool-season grass, warm-season grass; the former is water-saving type as we define. This paper analyzes the total amount of lawn water consumption at first, then compares water consumption for different grass species, and focuses on comparing the difference between the water consumption for current cold season lawn grass and warm season lawn grass. Then the paper analyzes water-saving potential of various grass species based on the maximum and minimum water consumption and the area of them, showing that water-saving potential of warm-season grasses is the highest.. It calculates the water consumption in 2010-2015 and the potential amount of water to be saved. The conclusions are as following:1) cool-season lawn grass consumes more water than warm-season lawn grass,2) the domestic water consumption in Beijing will grow continuously in the future.3) the water-saving quantity will be very considerable if the existing grass is replaced by water-saving grass by 50%.In the study of current grass species in Beijing, it's very necessary to promote the water-saving grass species. Then we start to analyze the feasibility of promoting water-saving grass from three aspects, layout planning and design, security system construction and specific promotion measures. Meantime according to the goal of greening guideline of Beijing in 2020, we calculated the water-saving lawn area to be promoted and its potential water saving amount. In the security system construction, we mainly discuss government policy support, technical production security, financial security and physical security aspects and public opinion. According to these planning and design and security system, this paper implants the typical investigation to have a deep insight of various lawn types in representative spots and gives different suggestions to different functional lawn when water-saving lawn is promoted.Through detailed analysis and study in this paper, it is very necessary and feasible to promote water-saving grass in Beijing. But in reality, it's inevitable to meet some difficulties and problems in the process of promoting. To meet this end, the joint efforts of government and society are needed and the government should continue to give more support in promotion of water-saving grass. At the same time, the public also needs to strengthen and develop their water-saving awareness.
