In order to evaluate and analyze the environment quality of non-hazard vegetable production areas in Baiyin. The heavy metal, harmful matter and pesticide residues in atmosphere, irrigating water, soil and the products were thereby investigated and detected according to the methods of national standard. The contaminated sources and ways were also analyzed and examined meanwhile. And these studies can provide scientific basis for non-hazard vegetable production in the future.The result showed that there were 4 kinds of contaminated matters in atmosphere within two sampled and tested spots and the single contaminated index were below 1. The synthesized contaminated index of two sampled spots was below 1 but above 0.6. The contaminated grades belonged to the second-rate clean grade. The contaminated level was within limited standard belonged to the second-rate atmosphere environment standard. This environment level of sampled area is suitable to non-hazard vegetable production.In irrigated water, there were 8 kinds of contaminated matters within 2 sampled spots, and the single contaminated factor index was below 1, the synthesized index was below 0.5. The contamination degree belonged to clean grade. The contamination level was clean which belonged to the first-rate irrigation water standard. This level of sampled area is also suitable to non-hazard vegetable production.In growing soil tested 30 sampled spots, there were 7 kinds of contaminated matters and the single index was below 1. The synthesized index of 2 sampled spots was below 1 but above 0.6. The contamination degree belonged to the second-rate grade. The contamination level was within the limited standard. The synthesized index of the other 28 sampled spots was all below 0.6, belonged to clean grade. This level is up to the soil quality standard and suitable to non-hazard vegetable production.In products tested, hot pepper and eggplant were detected. The result showed that the single index of both products were all below 1, the synthesized index were all below 1 too. These two products detected were up to standard and suitable to national vegetable production standard.Above all, the contamination levels of atmosphere, irrigating water, soil and product detected were clean and suitable to non-hazard vegetable production in Baiyin vegetable production areas.
