Barely is one of the oldest and most important grain crops in the world. Many barely varieties is able to endure disease, to resist drought and cold and to bear salt and alkali. They play an important role in the agricultural structure readjustment and optimization area arrangement, variety structure and extension of the industrial chain of agriculture and dealing with the issue on labor surplus and economic development and especially they have more adaptability in the Northwest area which is characteristic of being cold, drought and barren and severe in salt and alkali. Two hundred and seventy-one barely varieties or lines were used as the material. On the basis of a comparative study on characters of development, the paper carries out a research on the development period and character of matter production, yield, quality and ecological adaptability of every experimental material. The main research result is the following;Firstly, the thesis has analyzed and expounded the character of development and agronomic traits of barley germaplasm resources. The present author has observed and recorded the growth period, seedling traits, leaf width, the color of leaf, short basal internode, elasticity, strength, the color of spike and auricle, the length of srista and the existence of stem, wax powder and resistance. Moreover, the author of this thesis carries out a careful observation on the height of plant, the length of srista, the amount short basal internode, the amount of spikes and other characteristics so as to systematically expound the character of development and agronomic traits.Secondly, making a contrast among the performance of different germaplasm resources the present author of the thesis reaches a conclusion that the yield difference of different barely material is striking, and in the meantime the yield of different row type is different. The number of the yield performance of the two-row is seven; the number of the yield performance of the four-row variety is four; the number of the yield performance of the six-row is one.Thirdly, the quality of the material has determined. The result shows that compared with the present excellent barely variety Xi'an 91-2, the variety analysis result of D-18, D-67 and D-63 among the introduced material is much better.Fourthly, combined with the characters of development, yield and other factors of the...
