Studies On The Toxicity And Major Chemical Constitutients Of Oxytropis Serioopetala C.R.C.Fisch

Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C. Fisch has been considered to be one of the major locoweeds responsible for livestock poisoning on rangelands, it is distributed in the south of Tibet, such as Lhasa, Qushui, Naidong, Miling, Linzhi, Jiangzi, Rikaze, Sajia, Bailang. Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C.Fisch cause chronic poisoning of livestock, abortion of dam and death. Besides, owing to it can withstand drought and cold, Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C.Fisch contests room, water and nutrition with pasturage.In the end,the pasturage was diminished and degenerated.Furthermore,in some places which livestock were poisoned by the plant,herds worried about poisoning of livestock and can not make full use of pasturage.Thus it can be seen,Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C. Fisch seriously damaged the animal husbandry of Tibet.The studies on the toxicity of the the plant to animals, the chemical compositions and nutrition contents of the plant are poor. The objective of the studies is to offer information to determine the toxicity of the plant to animals, chemical components, to develop and utilize the plant. We obtained the following results after carrying on the careful experiment.1.The Chronic Toxicity of the Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C.Fisch to MiceThe mice were given food with different percentage(0, 15 %, 30 %, 45 % and 60 %) of Oxytropis sericopetala powder. The mice with middling dose and high dose presented symptom a week later. At first the mice presented excitement, convulsion,then became depressed with hard breathing, incapable limbs. The mice with serious symptom died. The weight of the poisoned mice decreased apparently, vacuole was found from cells of brain, heart, liver, spermary and other organs by pathological experiment. It's useful for the further research of the toxicity of the Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C.Fisch.2.Pre-experiment on Chemical Composition of Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C. FischThrough systematic pre-experiment, special experiment and thin-layer chromatography we tested Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C.Fisch. The results indicate that Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C. Fisch contains protein, amino acid, monose, amylase, glucoside,saponin, tannide, alkaloid, phenols, anthraquinone, flavone, organic acid,no coumarin, lactone, naphtha, cyanogenetic glycoside, aliphatic nitro compound.The result of TLC indicate Oxytropis serioopetala C.R.C. Fisch contains swainsonine.
