The Study on early pregnancy diagnosis in sheep has been investigated for years, but the effects have not been very perfect for many factors. This experiment of early pregnancy diagnosis in sheep was done by three methods in different season. The purpose of this study was to improve the veracity of diagnosis, reduce the cost and the bad effects and to seek for an ideal method of early pregnancy diagnosis in sheep for production. This experiment of early pregnancy diagnosis in sheep was done by three methods: B-model ultrasonography, abdominoscope observation and identification on oestrus by ram from June to August during the non-breeding season (mating in the first ten days of June) and September to October during the breeding season (mating in the middle ten days of August) from the 15th day to the 60th day after mating.1. Comparison among the results of the different examination methods and time.2. Comparison among the bad effects of the different examination methods.3. Comparison among the results of the different examination standards and time by B-model ultrasonography. The experiment results indicated:1. There was no significant difference in the results of early pregnancy diagnosis by the three methods in the breeding season. There was significant difference in the results of early pregnancy diagnosis by identification on oestrus by ram with other two methods in the non-breeding season from the 35th day to the 45th day after mating.2. There was no significant difference in the bad effects of early pregnancy diagnosis by the three methods in the breeding season and in the non-breeding season. But There was almost no bad effects of early pregnancy diagnosis by B-model ultrasonography. The increase of conglutination happened in the non-breeding season was very distinct comparison with the breeding season by abdominoscope observation.3. The average cost of pregnancy diagnosis by B-model ultrasonography is the least among the three methods, which is only half of the cost by other two methods. There was no significant difference between abdominoscope observation and identification on oestrus by ram, but anterior is higher.4. Comparison among the two other methods, B-model ultrasonography has many excellences: veracity maximal, cost lest and almost no bad effects, so it is the best methods of the early pregnancy diagnosis in sheep.
