The Chinese bamboo culture, the culture that has been formed from ancient Chinese cultivating, utilizing, and appreciation of bamboo. Bamboo had provided ancient Chinese with abundant daily necessities and variety of resources for production. People enjoyed not only living in houses surrounded by bamboo, but also combining their thoughts with bamboo to express emotions. The interaction between ancient Chinese and bamboo had hugely pushed forward the emerging and developing of Chinese nation's philosophy, literature, and aesthetics, which finally forged the integrity of Chinese nation as well as the bamboo culture.As a consequence, the unique and ample spiritual connotation of bamboo culture has been influencing Chinese people's aesthetic tastes and ethical philosophy and even the development of Chinese garden art. According to the existing literature records, early in our country during the Zhou Dynasty bamboo had been planted in imperial gardens; While in Qin Dynasty people introduced bamboo from YunGang which was a place in Shanxi province to the imperial garden of Xianyang Palace; Also, during Han Dynasty, there were historic records of bamboo's existing in imperial gardens such as Shanglinyuan and Yongangong; And in Wei, Chin and the South and North Dynasties the literatis of garden arts began to rise up, who were fond of combining bamboo culture with garden art and natural landscape to create a new form of literacy; When it came to Tang Dynasty, the wide application of bamboo brought bamboo gardening into a heyday; Moreover, some Ming and Qing Dynasties scholars, on the basis of summarizing the predecessors'work, made a detailed, penetrating elaboration for bamboo gardening, which was spoke highly of by scholars of later generations.As Bamboo culture owns its unique art style and aesthetic tastes, it brings people poetic emotion, which is of highly ornamental value and application. The design of Chinese classical garden is very exquisite on plants collocation, in which bamboo has acted as an extremely important role. Bamboo almost has never been absented from landscaping. With bamboo, architects create the sceneries such as the winding path throughing bamboo forest, the bamboo cabin, the bamboo window, the wall standing beside the bamboo, the bamboo forest with lotus pond, and all kinds of handicraft works made from bamboo. Which were mentioned above have all reflect the endless charm of the bamboo culture.Inherited and developed the traditional gardening methods, the modern garden pays more attention to technology and innovation when it comes to bamboo's main landscaping. The modern garden emphases on scientific research, artificial bamboo introduction, large scale planting and functional development. While in bamboo's assistant landscaping, the application of bamboo not only is used in the park, but also expands to urban greening, residential construction and ecological protection and other domains. As for the cultural inheritance, designing and building gardens via bamboo culture historical allusion, bringing the poetic connotation of bamboo into landscaping, beautifying people's lives with artificial bamboo handiworks, hosting bamboo culture festival, building up the theme park of bamboo etc. Bamboo culture is playing an increasingly important role in the modern garden and other aspects.Therefore, the research on bamboo culture will both contribute to inheriting and promoting Chinese culture, and developing of garden art application and the improving of aesthetic taste of garden art. Recompiling the Chinese bamboo culture, absorbing the essence of classical literacy, deriving from the traditional bamboo culture, thus adding modern landscape development with plenty cultural elements, continuously improving its artistic heritage, and thereby achieving the organic integration of literature and art, which has been the indispensable path towards the development of modern garden.
