As China's economic development, the scale of production is expanding. mobile crusher station, bucket wheel excavators, cranes, dump machines and other crawler machinery are widely used in the mines,dams,power plants,roads and railway construction, building industries and so on. Because the heavy of these machines are from several hundred tons to ten thousand tons, so they must use large crawler travelling device to keep its stability and load capacity.Crawler travelling device is the bearing part of the crawler machinery, which bear the weight of machinery and external force of working to ensure the crawler machinery stability walking on the ground and operating. Crawler frame is the main component parts of crawler travelling device, which the chassis deliver the gravity load and moment of force to, so the mechanical strength of the structure has direct impact on working performance. As more and more widely use and expanding needs of crawler vehicle, in-depth study crawler frame structure is an important issue that the companies facing in the design and manufacture.That finite element method is an effective method using in analysis and design of manufacturing enterprises of China to innovative design independently. In this paper, combined with an 1200t Tracked Mobile Crusher in Northern Heavy Industries Group, the mechanical characteristics of the load, calculation and structural strength of the crawler frame in large statically determinate crawler travelling device are researched in the three conditions of uniform motion straightly, climbing and turning, that finite element method is the basic analysis methods and crawler frame of large statically determinate crawler travelling device is the main object of study. The main works of this paper are as follows:(1) On the basis of the relevant references at home and abroad, this article introduces the application status and development trends of large crawler travelling device in crawler vehicle at home and abroad, the research status and research methods of crawler frame, the use of finite element method in crawler device design, some of the problems encountered and solutions in structural design of our country crawler frame. (2) This paper researched the working principle of crawler travelling device, the difference of structural features between large statically determinate crawler travelling device and other types, and load analysis and calculation of partial loads for large statically determinate crawler travelling device.Then combined with two-dimensional drawings of crawler travelling device in Mobile Crusher, three-dimensional model of crawler frame was built using Solidworks.(3) Without affecting the overall structural strength, crawler frame model was imported to the finite element analysis software Ansys after simplified treatment. Then, it was meshed by shell element SHELL 63 in Ansys and dealt with the connected boundary with driving wheel, directive wheel basement and so on to get crawler frame finite element analysis model.(4) According to the work features of Crawler Mobile Crusher, this article selected three conditions of uniform motion in a right line, climbing travel and turnning by one-side braking after discussed the dangerous working conditions, analysed load calculation and finite element stress of crawler frame in the Crawler Mobile Crusher under the heavy weight of 1,200 tons full load condition to analyze the condition of the crawler frame deformation, stress distribution and size when the top car center of gravity was in a different position, and offered some suggestions of structural improvements in accordance with finite element analysis results.(5) The first ten natural frequencies and mode shapes was extracted from the dynamic modal analysis of the crawler frame. Then the excitation source may cause resonance of crawler frame was analysed, and determined whether the resonance occurs. That has some significance on the crawler frame structure improvements and design.This article studies on the crawler frame for large statically determinate crawler travelling device using the finite element method. It is helpful to understand the deformation and stress of each part of the crawler frame, and solve strength of shortage in structural design. In practice, this method and research also helps to improve the efficiency of product development, shorten product design cycles, improve product performance and reliability, reduce costs and improve efficiency.
