Sero-epidemiological Investigation On PRRSV And Effect Observation By New Hypericin Form Hunan Province

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is considered one of the most economically important diseases affecting the swine industry worldwide, characterized by reproductive failure in late term gestation in sows and respiratory disease in pigs of all ages. PRRSV, a member of the small enveloped viruses, has a single-stranded, non-segmented, positive-sense, polyadenylated RNA of approximately 15 kb in length that contains nine open reading frames. The performance of piglets breathing difficulties after infection, sepsis and other symptoms, the incidence rate of up to 100%, the mortality rate of up to 50%. The disease is immunosuppressive disease, herd pigs after infection can cause immune suppression, resulting in delayed immune response, leading to immune failure, also often caused by hog cholera, a variety of epidemic diseases such as mixed or secondary infection, caused by a large number of dead pigs. Hypericin from Hypericum perforatum extract, one of the effective active ingredient. Traditional Chinese medicine believe that Hypericum perforatum has a pure heart and blood circulation to regulate menstruation and detoxification anti-inflammatory effect. Modern pharmacology study confirmed Hypericum perforatum an antidepressant, anti-bacterial, analgesic, hemostatic, and fever and so on. In this paper, investigate the PRRS infection rate of pigs from 2006 to 2007 in Hunan. The results showed:1. The survey checked 760 farms, of which 524 infected with PRRS, infection rate of 68.94%(524/760).2. The survey found that the infection of PRRS in Chenzhou,Yiyang,Changde,Xiangtan and Yueyang City form Hunan Province were as follows:62.86%,63.75%, 71.88%,72.22%. The total infection rate was 74.16%.3. The survey found that the infection of PRRS in different periods ordered:from June to August (83.87%)>from March to May (77.72%)> from September to November (57.5%)>12-2 month (22.68%).4. Epidemiological survey showed that, PRRSV infection has been widespread in Hunan, while there is a high percentage of latent infection.5. This study found that new hypericin antivirus and increase immune function, while use it can prevent and cure infection. The results show that new hypericin formulations suitable for clinical application of the PRRS.The firsthand and detailed data about practice infection rate of the PRRS in Hunan Province was gained via this survey.
