An Empirical Study On Five - Line Music Therapy And Auricular Acupoint Pressing To Improve Depression In Elderly Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Objective1. Aimed to detect the effect of improving depression through the "five lines of music therapy combined with uricular application", " the auricular application "and" the music therapy" in treating the elderly with type 2 diabetes; to further discuss the difference of the curative effect with the three methods; to further explore a set of more convenient, economy and better effective nursing method of TCM in improving depression.2. Aimed to promote the spread of music therapy and auricular application as the nursing method of TCM.MethodThe study assessed 60 old patients with type 2 diabetes who lived in Xue Fu Fang Lin and Xi shu kang Xin Yuan and randomly were divided into there groups which were auricular application group (group A), music therapy group (group B) and music therapy combined with auricular application group (group C). Patients in group A were given conventional diabetes care+auricular application, in group B were given conventional diabetes care+music therapy, in group C were given conventional diabetes care+auricular application+ music therapy. The course of treatment were 3 months. Using Self-rating Depression Scale and Diabetes-specific Quality of Life Scale to evaluate the effect of improving depression and quality of life in old patients with type 2 diabetes, and fasting blood glucose was detected before and after treatment. Using the statistical software SPSS 17.0 to analysis the difference of the curative effect between these groups and in intra-groups.Results1. The three groups were no statistically significant difference in the general information, disease-related information, SDS score, DSQL score, and fasting glucose (P>0.05), which showed baseline characteristics were comparable between the groups.2. The SDS score was down before and after treatment in three groups (P< 0.05);the SDS score in C group was lower than A and B groups after 3 months treatment (P<0.05),which showed the music therapy and auricular application can improve the depression of patients,but auricular application was better.3.The average score of three groups in terms of psychological, social and curative dimension were down after treatment (P<0.05),the physiological dimension were down slightly, but there was no differences in three groups (P>0.05),;the average score of C groups in terms of psychological, social and curative dimension were lower than A and B groups after 3 months treatment (P<0.05),which showed the music therapy and auricular application can improve quality of life in terms of psychological, social and curative dimension but not in physiological dimension, the music therapy+auricular application had better effect.4. The fasting plasma glucose level of three groups decreased after treatment(P<0.05); the decreases of C group was more obvious than A and B groups after 3 months treatment (P<0.05), which showed the music therapy and auricular application can decrease the fasting plasma glucose, the music therapy + auricular application had better effect.Conclusion1. The music therapy and auricular application as the nursing method of TCM can improve depression of T2 DM with depression, the combine of the two methods had better effect.2. The music therapy and auricular application as the nursing method of TCM can improve quality of life in terms of psychological, social and curative dimension, the combine of two methods had better effect, but both methods can not improve quality of life in terms of physiological dimension.3. The music therapy and auricular application as the nursing method of TCM can decrease the fasting plasma glucose of T2 DM with depression, the combine of two methods had better effect.
