Clinical Observation On The Mechanism Of Softening And Detoxifying And Removing Blood Stasis In Treating Atherosclerosis

Purpose:To observe the effects on carotid artery plaques and C-reactiveprotein by using the medicine for soften hard masses and detoxication andinvestigate the feasibility and superiority of the TCM method for soften hardmasses and detoxication on preventing and curing atherosclerotic diseases.Material and method:60patients were randomly divided into2groups;30cases were for treatment group, whose members’ ages were51-83years old, theaverage age was60.3±7.2years old. In this group,14cases were males and16cases were females; another30cases were for contrast group, whose members’ages were52-67years old, the average age was61.4±3.2years. In this group,17cases were males and13cases were females. These two groups of patients’lifestyles were guided. The treatment group was given Biejia, Sanleng, RadixScutellariae, Songzhi, Zhishi, Banxia, Danpi and Guizhi as basic prescriptiondecoction and the contrast group was given Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets20mgonce a day orally. The thickness of media-intima, the size of carotid plaquearea, CRP and blood lipid were recorded once before and after treatments andthe index of atherosclerosis was calculated.Results:1. After three months’ treatment, two groups of patients’ carotid artery plaqueswere effectively improved,90%for the retreatment group and83.3%for thecontrast group, compared with the results, the treatment group was better thanthe contrast group, which had statistical significance.And the thickness ofmedia-intima and the size of atherosclerotic plaque were generally decreased,where obvious curative effect existed, compared with the curative effects, thetreatment group was better than the contrast group (P＜0.050). 2.CRP of the two groups of patients were generally getting lower, the curativeeffect of the treatment group was better than that of the contrast group(P＜0.05).3.The index of atherosclerosis of both groups of patients generally weregenerally getting lower, but the differences were not obvious after the treatment.（P＞0.05）4.in the process of the study, the treatment group and the contrast group ofpatients had no adverse reactions, patients’ indicators were normal and theirvital signs were stable.Conclusion:1.This study fully showed that the TCM method for soften hard masses anddetoxication could reduce the thickness of media-intima and the size ofatherosclerotic plaque,and it could also reduce CRP level and adjust blood lipidmetabolism. In a word, this method had obvious effect on improvingatherosclerosis.2.The TCM method for soften hard masses and detoxication was quite safe, whichopened up a new way for preventing atherosclerosis.
