Tachyarrhythmia is equivalents to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) "palpitation" range. The typical clinically manifestations are heart throb, restlessness with fear, insomnia, chest congestion, breathlessness, forgetful. Adhering to Overall Concept and Differential Treatment, Professor Feng Lin adopts a program of individual therapy using herbal medicines which concentrate on enriching qi, nourishing yin and clearing heat. Under the era of big data, it is necessary to analyze those large amounts of clinical data using modern mining techniques. In this way, we can initially explore prescription regular patterns including single herbs, combination of herbs and core combination. The results of this research can guide treatment, improve clinical efficacy and investigate pathogenesis on TCM.Objective:This research expects to probe Professor Feng Lin’s drug laws and speculation characteristic on treating tachyarrhythmia, using data mining techniques.Method:The tachyarrhythmia clinical cases of Professor Feng Lin are collected from January 2010 to December 2014, then those cases could be input in "The TCM integration system of clinical research" (V2.1) and analysis by means of frequency statistics, pointwise mutual information and complex system multiscale backbone algorithm. Results:Through overall mining those selected 1513 prescriptions, there were a lot of results produced, including the frequency of drug, association rules between drugs and core portfolio. The study included 1513 cases,425 cases of female patients (60.98%),272 cases of male patients (39.02%). The youngest is 3 years old, maximum 90 years old, mean age 59.30±12.61 years old, the median age was 60.1513 prescriptions involves 311 kinds of Chinese medicine, all herb frequency is 22068 times. Grouping by the Siqi and Wuwei of herb:flat (6161), warm (5544), cold (4811), slight cold (3301), cool (975), slight warm (861), heat (274), amere (11669), bitter (8949), acrid (6598), slight bitter (2106), sour (1906), salty (1493), astringency (1018).According to the classification of the herbs’efficacy:the most commonly used herb classes followed by:Qi invigorating drug (2396), heat-clearing and damp-drying drug (1801), Nourishing heart to calm mind drugs (1758), Activating blood and adjusting menstruation (1263), Invigorating yin drug (960).Totally ten herbs appear before the frequency are respectively as follows:Salvia, Sophora flavescens Ait, Radix pseudostell, baked Seed of Jujube, prepared Pinellia tuber, Radix Scrophulariae, Keel, Coptis chinensis Franch, Allium macrostemon Bunge, seed of Oriental Arborvitae.According to pointwise mutual information analysis, the commonly association rules between drugs are derived as below:Sophora flavescens Ait-Radix pseudostell (-Radix Scrophulariae, baked Seed of Jujube, prepared Pinellia tuber, Keel), prepared Pinellia tuber-Allium macrostemon Bunge (Radix pseudostell, Salvia, Sophora flavescens Ait, Trichosanthis), baked Seed of Jujube-seed of Oriental Arborvitae (Caulis polygoni multiflori, Sophora flavescens Ait, Salvia, Radix Scrophulariae), etc.Based on complex system mutiscale backbone algorithm, the core portfolio for tachyarrhythmia is Salvia, Sophora flavescens Ait, Radix pseudostell, Radix Scrophulariae, prepared Pinellia tuber, Trichosanthis, rhizoma coptidis, Allium macrostemon Bunge, Keel, baked Seed of Jujube, seed of Oriental Arborvitae, Caulis polygoni multiflori, Cicada slough, stir-baked Bombyx batryticatus. Conclusion:Through the analysis of Professor Feng Lin’s drug laws on treating tachyarrhythmia, we expect to investigate the similarities on treatment of tachyarrhythmia, involve in single herbal medicine, drug combinations, core portfolio, etc. These mining results provide a strong evidence that Professor Feng Lin concertate on enriching qi, nourishing yin and clearing heat during the treatment of tachyarrhythmia.
