Ferula fukanensis K.M.Shen reproduced by means of seed. We studied Ferula fukanensis KM. Shen seed in order to instruct artificial cultivation for the first time. The seed study comprises four parts.1. Karyotypes analysis of Ferula fukanensis K.M.Shen. we studied the characteristic of the chromosome, which showed that Ferula fukanensis K.M.Shen is diploid; the chromosome number is 20; the karyotype fiamula is 2n=2x=20=16m+4sm. The karyotype of Ferula fukanensis K.M.Shen belongs to "2A" type of Stebbins', which shows it is aprimitive species.2. The study on seed dormancy. Seeds were treated with stratification under 4℃ in 40 days, and the seed germination rate reached about 60%, which showed that the seed dormancy was broken as a whole. In course of breaking the seed dormancy, the content of endo-hormone (Z,IAA,GA3 ABA) decreased gradually, but the rate of GA3/ABA was increased quickly, which showed that improving ratio of GA3 and ABA can break the seed dormancy. The seeds were treated with extrinsic hormone in different combination and concentration, and KT could improve the seed germination rate, but 2,4-D can restrain the seed germination. The seeds were dipped in 2,4-D(150mg/l) and KT(100mg/l) separately for 24h, and then treated under 4℃ in 40d. we found that ABA concentration increased by extrinsic 2,4-D treating in the course of stratification under 4℃, which restrained the seeds germination.3. Study on standard of Ferula fukanensis K.M.Shen seed quality classification. Two grades were divided with the seed density by gravity dividing machine of 5XZ-3.0 model. The first grading seed were described as that, seed germination rate more than 60% and weight per 1000seeds more than 19g. The second grading seed were described as that, seed germination rate more than 32% and weight per 1000 seeds more than 15g.4. Study on seed cryopreservation.
