Hippophae rhamnoides L., commonly known as Seabuckthorn, sallow thorn, distributes widely in Eurasian continent's temperate zone, glacial zone and subtropical alpine belt, It's one of the important psammophyte sources in Inner Mongolia. Seabuckthorn has great ability to adapt many extreme environmental conditions, such as drought, cold, salt and alkali and sand burying, it is a very good candidate for controlling and remediation of sandy and deserted soil. In addition, Seabuckthorn contains rich nutrients and has been widely used in medical treatment and health care.In this paper, we compared the differences of nutrient contents and mineral element in Seabuckthorn's leaf of different varieties, put emphasis on metabolism changes of flavonoids of leaf at various growing stages and varieties. We also sprayed different concentration of Sodium Selenite Anhydrous (Na2SeO3) solution on Russian Seabuckthorn leaf for assaying its enrich-Se ability.Main results are as follows:1 Seabuckthorn leaf contains abundant nutrients, among them the crude fat and crude protein contents are higher than other routine forages, reachs 11.91% and 22.87% respectively, while crude fiber content is lower than other varieties, the ratio of crude protein to crude fiber is over 1, some reaches 2. So, Seabuckthorn leaf is a good forage resource. Furthermore, Seabuckthorn leaf contain plentiful mineral element, polysaccharide and all kinds of fatty acids, including palmitate, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid.2 Seabuckthorn leaf have abundant flavanoids. Our results showed that the flavanoids contents had positive correlation with the develpment stages. For example, from leaf sprouting stage in May, flavonoids contents increase gradually with th edevelpoment process going on, it reaches peak value in July, and then begin to...
