Sanguisorba officinalis L. has excellent aspects on the flower type ,flower color and leaf shape, as well as relatively long flowering period, which provide Sanguisorba officinalis L highly ornamental value. Sanguisorba officinalis L has strong viability and excellent cold-resistance and hot-resistance abilities , and cultivation conditions are not strict, which make it rang from the north to south.Therefore, Sanguisorba officinalis L. is a good strain of wild flower which can be used in garden . However, the height of Sanguisorba officinalis L. is prone to be great and loose at the lower altitude. Consequently, it easily tends to lodge, which not be suited for pot. So, applied chlormequat on Sanguisorba officinalis L. and tried to solve this problem. In this study, different concentrations of CCC were drenched into Sanguisorba officinalis L. and determined the morphologyical index (the net growth height, branch number, the internodal length, branch length, number of compound leaf and compound leaf length, leaf number and area , flowering period and flowering number) and physiology index(chlorophyll a/b, SOD, POD, IAA oxidase, endogenous hormone). The following results were these:1. Applying CCC with different concentrations could reduce its net growth height. The effect of inhibition was enhanced with the concentration increasing. The effect was most obvious after 5 days when drenched CCC .CCC with 156-10 mg/L improved the branch number;10000 ~ 625 mg/L inhibited branch. Basically, the higher the concentration was, the shorter the branch length. So the whole plant was more compact. Different concentrations could reduce the length of secondary branch significantly;Only CCC with 625—10000mg/L made clear effects on the length of primary branch;10000 mg/L and lOmg/L had no effects on the length of primary, third, fourth branch.2. Applying CCC with different concentrations could decrease the number of compound leaf obviously. The higher the concentration was, the less the number was. The length of compound leaf was inhibited as the concentration was below 625 mg/L. Between 625-2500 mg/L, on the contrary, CCC had no effects. Applying CCC could increase the leaf number but with no apparent law. The length and width of leaf increased to some extent. 39 mg/L treatment got the most obvious effect.3. Applying CCC with different concentrations could shorten the flowering period and decrease the flowering number. The initial flowering date was delayed with the concentrations increasing. Ended flowering date advanced. The flowering number decreased as the concentrations increased.4. Applying CCC with different concentrations could increased chlorophyll content of leaf and postpone leaf senescence effectively. Chlorophyll content increased as concentrations increased;CCC could improve and continue the activities of SOD, POD. CCC with 2500 mg/L was most effective in improving activities of protective enzyme. CCC could be able to increase the activity of IAA oxidase as the concentrations increased.5. CCC could significantly inhibit the synthesis of GA3, IAA, ZT and they were reduced as the content of CCC increased. CCC with 10000 mg/L was the most effective. Meanwhile, CCC could effectively increase and decrease the content of ABA at vegetative growth stage and reproductive stage respectively. Accordingly, CCC can improve the hardiness and put off senescence of Sanguisorba officinalis L.6. According to the path analysis, the relationship between Zeatin (ZT) and plant height was rather close, and ABA took effect on the net growth height indirectly by influencing ZT;ABA had obvious effect on the flowering period directly, and indirect effect of ZT on the flowering period was far more obvious than direct effect. To great extent, ABA and ZT participated in development control of reproductive organs. IAA oxidase had apparent effect on the flowering number.7. The comprehensive appreciation was conducted by following aspects: the plant height, branch number and length, the leaf shape, the flowering period, flowering number and so on. The results showed: CCC with 625 ~ 2500 g/L had proper effects on the Sanguisorba officinalis L.
