The Primary Studies On Stress In Giant Panda

In This paper we took noninvisive method analysised different giant pandas fecal cortisol, Acquired that the daily rhythm secretion in giant panda's fecal cortisol;Knew that the effect in fecal cortisol changing during anaesthesia stress;Knew the lag time between the anaesthesia and the cortisol changing in feces;Analysised the secretion of fecal cortisol under different temperature,all that we did could enhance the research of giant panda's sound raising and better management.The results are as follows:1. Fecal cortisol reached the peak level during dawn,then started decreasing.to the lowest level at 24:00,it took on a remarkable daily changing rhythm.in this paper male and femal's fecal cortisol secretion rhythm were basically same.2. Fecal cortisol kept normal physiological average value before anesthesia, however,giant panda were suffered stronge effects during anesthesia, then fecal cortisol got a remarkable increase,three times as pre-anesthesia,After three days,fecal cortisol still kept a higher level,which suggested that giant pandas were in a recovery phase.there were no remarkable difference between male and female during anesthesia stimulus,they both were sensitive to anesthesia stimulus.3. It was showed that there were average 24. 5hours delay between the time of anesthesia and fecal cortisol changing.4. Fecal cortisol fluctuated at a normal level under 5℃~30℃,however it sharply increased to a higher level, when environment temperature exceeded 30 ℃,2-3times as 5℃~29℃.it was shown that giant panda were suffered heat stress.
