Impatiens hawkeri, as one of the popular flowers in the world, has high horticultural value. Up to now, most of the research work in flowers nutrition has only focused on main element aspects. However, how do trace elements affect growth and color of flowers? In this paper , the effects of copper and aluminium on growth and flower color of Impatiens hawkeri were studied through sand culture.Main results were showed as follows: (1 )The effects of copper on growth of Harmony Super Red and Harmony Violet, to some extent ,were different from aluminium . ?Leaf number, fresh weight, dry weight, root activity and chlorophyll content of Harmony Super Red and Harmony Violet reach the top when copper concentration was 3.2x10-6 mol.L-1 in nutrient solution. (2)Harmony Super Red reaches the climax of plant height, crown diameter, leaf number, fresh weight, dry weight, chlorophyll content, root activity when aluminium concentration was 7.41x10-7 mol.L-1, while Harmony Violet hits the peak of leaf number, fresh weight, dry weight, chlorophyll content and root activity when aluminium concentration was 7.41x10-6 mol.L-1. (2) The effects of copper and aluminium on flowers of Harmony Super Red, to some extent ,were different from Harmony Violet. (1) It was flower color of Harmony Super Red that was changed obviously by copper and aluminium. When copper concentration was 3.2x10-7 mol.L-1 Harmony Super Red get the maximum of resolvable sugar content, anthocyanin content, and flower color. However, with the increase of the aluminium concentration, flower color of Harmony Super Red was deepened gradually after becoming light, the appearance of the petal was obviously improved. When aluminium concentration was 7.41x10-6 mol.L-1, Harmony Super Red reach the top of resolvable sugar content, anthocyanin content, and flower color. (2)Rower shape of Harmony Violet was obviously distorted by copper and aluminium. When copper concentration was 3.2x10-5 mol.L-1 or aluminium concentration was 7.41 x10-6 mol.L-1, two pieces of wing petal of Harmony Violet turn back into tube-shape. (3) The growth of Harmony Super Red and Harmony Violet was different because of Variety. (1)The growth rate of plant height and crown diameter of Harmony Super Red shows that obvious slow-fast-slow trend while Harmony Violet was relatively steady. (2)The concentration of copper or aluminium suitable to the growth of Harmony Super Red was generally lower than Harmony violet.
